We were commissioned to provide architectural design services, a measured building survey and planning application submission for a property located at 193 The Hawthorns, Pentwyn, Cardiff.

The property sits within a designated conservation area, requiring careful consideration of the design and scale of the proposed development to ensure it respected the surrounding built environment.

Project Brief

The client wished to significantly expand the living space within the property by adding a full height and full width two-storey side extension.

The proposed extension was designed to improve the functionality of the home while remaining sympathetic to the existing building.

The design included:

A new accessible bathroom on the ground floor

An enlargement of the existing kitchen to create a more usable family space

Two additional bedrooms on the first floor
