Retrospective Planning Permission – Side Extension with Balcony

We were commissioned to assist with securing retrospective planning permission and building control approval for a side extension at Sea Holm, Warren Road, Brean, Somerset (TA8 2RR).

The project involved the retention of a side extension with an external balcony, which required formal approval from the local planning authority and building control.

Project Brief

The property had previously been extended, however the works required retrospective planning consent to regularise the development.

Our role was to prepare the architectural drawings and planning submission necessary to demonstrate that the extension was acceptable in terms of:

Scale and appearance

Relationship with neighbouring properties

Impact on the surrounding area

Compliance with local planning policies

The extension included a side addition with a balcony, designed to provide additional living space and improved views in this coastal location.

Planning Application

We prepared the required existing and proposed drawings and submitted the retrospective planning application to the local planning authority.

Following assessment, the application was successfully approved by Sedgemoor District Council.

Building Control Regularisation

Following the planning approval, a Building Control application was also submitted to ensure the works complied with the relevant building regulations.
